For all those who don’t know him, my grandpa on my dad’s side; also called Bob or Robert and even Grumpy; is good with food. He made a pie for Thanksgiving Day that might help illustrate this point. Instead of making a regular boring old pumpkin or lemon meringue pie, he created the best tasting pie I have ever had. The main ingredient though is really shocking. The main ingredient is none other than mans favorite fruit, The famous Pinto Bean. When my dad first told me about it a week or so before I was revolted. A pie made out of pinto beans? It did not sound appetizing to me at the time before I had even tasted it. I went through the week dreading Thanksgiving Day. Then unfortunately it came all to soon. My dad told me that I could not go to bed until I had some Pinto Bean Pie. I grudgingly took the first bite. Needless to say that I had been wrong about what I thought the pie was going to taste like. Also I don’t need to say that I scarfed the rest of my piece of pie down. My brother, who had been excited about the pie, surprisingly did not like it. So I got to eat the rest of his piece too. It was so good. Don’t tell my dad this but I am glad that he made me try a piece.
